In Volume 35 of Interpretations, SFSU MA Literatures students consider moments of metaphysical death, birth, and rebirth in literature. 2023 is the fourth year of living in our “new normal,” and such a significant cultural shift begets moments of reflection, remembrance, and calls for change. Last year’s edition of Interpretations explored “states of inclusion, exclusion, and everything encompassing the threshold between them. What does it mean to be alienated in social, political, economic contexts?” This year, we examine the repercussions and reverberations of global, cultural, and personal change in moments of metaphysical death, birth, and rebirth. We are proud to present this year's issue of Interpretations, titled "Sunrise, Sunset: Moments of Metaphysical Death, Birth, and Rebirth in Literature."
